Curing Sinus Headache

In human skull, there are air packed craters that are connected to nose via cavities. These craters are sinuses and they are mucous membranes. In allergy attack, cavities get blocked up because of mucous accumulation. This mucous becomes the breeding area for microbes. Sinusitis has several symptoms and one of them is severe headache.

Sinus headaches are caused by allergy or exposure to extreme cold. Another reason could be distortion of nose or damage to nose bone leading to closing or clogging up of sinuses cavities. When sinuses are blocked, air puts strain on head and it leads to headache.

Sinus headache has some typical symptoms. It starts in morning and becomes severe when you bow your head. It is typically a continuing pain in the head and put strain on eyes, forehead and cheeks. Other symptoms are softening of bones and skin below and above the eyes and ache while blowing nose.

Sinus headache usually takes three to five days to go completely when the medications are taken. Further consulting of doctor is recommended if headache is not cured and the body temperature is 102 degrees F or 38.9 degrees C. More severe symptoms that require immediate consultation to doctor include swelled forehead, nose cheek, or eyes; distorted or twofold vision; balancing problems; nose bleeding. Any of these symptoms should not be taken casually and should be discussed with doctor. Doctors refrain from regular and continuous medication course as body may develop resistance to medicine after sometime of use.

Diagnosing the problem at an early stage and treating it beforehand do not allow the disease to emerge as an enduring illness. Frequent headaches and blocked nose should not be taken casually and a thorough check-up should be practiced. Some preventive actions like using nasal or oral decongestants when swimming in deep waters, flying should be taken. If dry air is prevalent, humidifier should be used.
